Fatal Accidents Claim Two Lives in Horana and Bandarawela

COLOMBO (News 1st): Tragedy struck in Horana as a 44-year-old man lost his life following a soil embankment collapse at an illegal mine in the Wagawatta area. 

Police report that the victim, a resident of Kiriella, was engaged in mining activities late last night when the embankment suddenly gave way, burying him underneath.

In a separate incident, a 49-year-old man died after falling from the roof of a house in the Atampitiya area of Bandarawela. 

According to local police, the victim was working on the roof of a two-story building alongside another individual when the fatal accident occurred. Investigations into both incidents are currently underway.
