COLOMBO (News 1st); Iran has firmly rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that Washington and Tehran have been in contact to discuss a “complete and total resolution” of the war, saying there has been no dialogue between the two sides.

According to Press TV, Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed Trump’s assertion that the United States and Iran had held “very good and constructive conversations over the past two days” aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East. Trump made the claim in a post on his Truth Social platform.

A source in Iran’s Foreign Ministry told IRIB News that there has been no contact between Tehran and Washington, describing Trump’s remarks as an attempt to lower energy prices and buy time to implement military plans.

The denial was echoed by Iranian state-affiliated media cited by CNN, which reported that Iran says there is “no dialogue between Tehran and Washington.” The Foreign Ministry again dismissed Trump’s comments as politically motivated and aimed at easing pressure on energy markets while creating space for military planning.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry acknowledged that there are “initiatives” from regional countries seeking to reduce tensions, according to the semi-official Mehr News agency. However, the ministry said Iran’s position on those efforts is clear.

“Our response to all of them is clear: we are not the party that started this war, and all these requests should be referred to Washington,” the ministry said.

Al Jazeera also reported on the statement carried by Mehr News, quoting the Foreign Ministry as saying there is no dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

The statement said Trump’s comments were aimed at reducing energy prices and buying time to pursue military objectives.

It added that while regional countries have put forward initiatives to reduce tensions, their concerns should be directed at Washington, which Iran described as “the party that started this war.”
