Former Director of CID, Prasad Ranasinghe Granted Bail

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Prasad Ranasinghe who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption earlier today has been granted bail. 

The arrest was made on allegations of interfering with investigations and aiding certain suspects to evade the law regarding the theft of an artifact known as the "Sandagala" (Moonstone) which was located near the entrance steps of the palace of King Sri Veera Parakrama Narendrasinghe at the Kundasale Udamaluwa archaeological site.

The Bribery Commission said that the arrest was made on charges of corruption.
