COLOMBO (News 1st) - Customs officers at Bandaranayake International Airport in Katunayake have arrested a Canadian couple for attempting to smuggle 32 kilograms of "Kush" cannabis, valued at approximately Rs. 321 million.
According to the Department of Customs, the suspects were apprehended today around 11:00 AM upon their arrival at the airport.
The suspects are identified as a 25-year-old male and a 29-year-old female, both residents of Canada.
The smuggled narcotics were found packed inside two suitcases belonging to the couple.
The suspects and the contraband have been taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
