High Court Jails 61-Year-Old Attorney for Fake Deed

COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman lawyer found guilty of preparing a forged deed has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Colombo High Court.

The sentence was delivered by High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne.

The court ordered six years of rigorous imprisonment for each of the two charges, totalling 12 years.

However, the judge directed that the sentence be served concurrently, meaning the accused will serve six years in total.

The prosecution succeeded in proving beyond reasonable doubt the two indictments filed against the lawyer, who is a 61-year-old mother of two.

The charges relate to preparing a forged deed for a land in the Borella area.
