President to Appoint Expert Committee to Advance Education Reforms

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Anura Karunathilaka says the President is set to appoint an expert steering committee to advance the education reform process.

Speaking at a public seminar in Jaffna, he said shortcomings in certain textbooks, particularly the English module, have been identified and action has been taken against those responsible. 
A review by experts is now underway.

The Minister further announced that the education reform process is scheduled to recommence from Grade Six in 2027. 

He added that the proposed expert committee, to be appointed by the President, will oversee and supervise the continuation of the education reform process to ensure its effective implementation.
