Muslims Begin Ramadan Fasting Today

COLOMBO(News 1st); Muslims across the island will start fasting for the month of Ramadan from today.

The Colombo Grand Mosque announced that the fasting month begins today after the new moon was sighted yesterday.

During Ramadan, Islamic Devotees observe fasting, practice self-discipline, and spend more time in prayer.

Fasting is one of the five main pillars of Islam.


It is also a tradition to avoid eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset each day throughout Ramadan.
