Police Seize 2,404 Firearms in 2025, Arrest 44 Shooters

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler, says that law enforcement authorities seized 2,404 firearms used in shootings last year.

Among the confiscated weapons were 74 T-56 rifles, 90 pistols, and 63 revolvers.

Last year, the police took 44 shooters into custody. 

In addition, 34 bikers who transported shooters to crime scenes and 307 suspects who aided and abetted the shootings were also arrested.
