All Arrangements for 78th Independence Day Celebrations Finalized, Says Minister of Administration

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Public Administration Chandana Abeyratne says that all arrangements are finalized to hold the 78th National Independence Day with grandeur and dignity.

This year’s celebrations will be held under the theme "Building Sri Lanka".

Minister Abeyratne added that the main ceremony is set to take place at Independence Square with a distinguished guest list and military presence, with the participation of around 4,500 officers from the Tri-Forces, about 150 foreign diplomats and envoys, and nearly 300 state officials.

Meanwhile 2,000 police officers have been deployed for special security and traffic arrangements.

Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, said 1,500 of them have been assigned specifically for security duties.
