Omani and Indonesian Warships Sail into Colombo

COLOMBO (News1st); The Port of Colombo hosted a double display of maritime diplomacy today as two friendly navies made scheduled logistics stops and courtesy visits, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s role as a trusted maritime hub in the Indian Ocean.

In separate arrivals, the Royal Navy of Oman Ship (RNO) AL SEEB and the Indonesian Naval Ship KRI SULTAN ISKANDAR MUDA – 367 berthed in Colombo for replenishment, professional interaction, and goodwill engagements.

Both vessels were welcomed with full naval honours by the Sri Lanka Navy, in keeping with time‑honoured tradition.

RNO AL SEEB: The 75‑metre RNO vessel AL SEEB arrived on a logistics replenishment visit, with the Sri Lanka Navy extending a ceremonial reception on entry. The ship is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Hamad Bin Mohammed Aldarmaki.

During the port call, the visit will facilitate professional interaction and goodwill exchanges between the two navies, strengthening operational familiarity and maritime ties. Crew members are also scheduled to visit selected tourist attractions in Colombo, adding a cultural dimension to the engagement.

KRI SULTAN ISKANDAR MUDA – 367: The a 90.71‑metre Sigma Corvette (FS) also arrived today on a scheduled stop for logistics replenishment and a goodwill mission. The vessel is commanded by Commander Annugerah Anurullah and was received with a ceremonial welcome on arrival.

As with the Omani visit, the stopover will provide an avenue to enhance professional interaction and courtesy engagements between the Sri Lanka Navy and its Indonesian counterparts. 

The crew is expected to tour Colombo’s key sights within the city limits, underscoring people‑to‑people links that complement navy‑to‑navy cooperation.
