COLOMBO (News1st): Letters of Exchange were signed yesterday at the Multifunctional Hall of the Sri Lanka Army Headquaters, on an Indian grant for an Indo-Lanka Sports Complex at the Army War College.
The Letters of Exchange were signed between the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, and the Chief of the Army Staff of India, General Upendra Dwivedi.
The COAS also officially handed over 20 Mahindra Scorpio vehicles, training simulators and two ambulances, reflecting the strong mutual bond between the two Army Commanders.
General Dwivedi also visited the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), where he interacted with the faculty and officers undergoing training. He also inaugurated the Indo - Lanka Friendship Corner at the DSCSC Library and handed over an ambulance.
An ambulance was donated to the Defence Services Command and Staff College during his visit.
General Upendra Dwivedi later paid tribute at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Monument in Battaramulla by laying a wreath, honouring the memory and sacrifices of Indian soldiers.
