Legendary Western music powerhouse Maxi Rozairo passed away at 77

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Renowned musician Maxi Rozairo began his illustrious musical journey in 1966 with the Sound Waves, and by 1970 he had become the lead vocalist of the celebrated band, Spitfires. 

His talent took him beyond Sri Lanka, with notable performances overseas, including a stint in Beirut during the 1970s, where a prominent nightclub was named in his honor.

Over his career, Rozairo shared the stage with iconic artistes such as Noeline Honter, Raja and Priyanthi Jalaldeen, Dulip Gabadamudalige, Dalreen Suby, and Mignone Fernando, among many others, leaving an indelible mark on Sri Lanka’s Western music scene.

In his later years, he dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation of musicians, serving as a tutor and mentor to countless students who benefited from his expertise and passion for music.
