COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police announced the implementation of a comprehensive security and traffic management plan across the country to ensure public safety during Christmas and the upcoming festive season.
According to the statement, special attention has been given to Catholic churches where religious services and related programs will be held.
Police have coordinated with religious leaders and event organizers to guarantee the safety of all worshippers.
Enhanced security measures have also been deployed around financial institutions, shopping complexes, and other crowded public areas.
Intelligence officers and plainclothes police personnel will be stationed in urban centers to gather information and take swift action if necessary.
Hotels, malls, and tourist hotspots—expected to attract large numbers of local and foreign visitors—will receive heightened security coverage.
Police urged the public to remain vigilant about suspicious individuals, groups, vehicles, and personal belongings, and to immediately inform the nearest police officer if they notice anything unusual.
