COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Examinations has requested students sitting for postponed subjects of this year’s G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination to immediately inform authorities if there has been a change in their place of residence, due to the disasters.

Commissioner General of Examinations, Indika Kumari, said candidates should notify either their school principal or the Department of Examinations regarding any change in address.

She noted that the Department can be contacted via 011 2784537 or 011 2788616 for this purpose.

She further highlighted that if a student is unable to sit for the examination at the previously assigned examination centre due to a change in the place of residence, they must inform the Department or the school principal about it, well in advance.

Accordingly, arrangements will be made to assign an alternative examination centre closer to the student’s new place of residence or district, particularly for those affected by disaster situations.

This provision will also apply to private candidates.

The Commissioner General further advised candidates to seek immediate assistance if their admission cards or National Identity Cards have been damaged or destroyed due to the disaster situation.

In such cases, students will be allowed to sit for the examination by submitting two attested photographs. For school candidates, the photographs must be attested by the Zonal Education Officer and the school principal.
