COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have recovered the motorcycle believed to have been used in the fatal shooting of a business establishment manager in Ambalangoda. The bike was found abandoned in the Andadola area, investigators confirmed.
According to police, two suspects arrived on the motorcycle and opened fire inside the store, using a pistol.
The motorcycle carried a fake license plate, which has now been identified.
Preliminary investigations reveal the suspects entered the shop claiming they wanted to purchase a television set before carrying out the attack.
The victim, 47-year-old Hiran Kosala, a resident of Vidyala Mawatha, Ambalangoda, succumbed to injuries at the scene.
Police further disclosed that Kosala had contested for the Ambalangoda Municipal Council under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) during the recent local government elections.
Investigators also suspect the victim maintained close ties with organized criminal gangs, based on emerging evidence.
The murder has sparked intense concern in the area, and police say a full-scale investigation is underway to track down the perpetrators.
