COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) says that atleast one officer has been assigned to every safe centre established across the island to monitor the condition of children affected by the recent disaster situation.

Chairperson of the NCPA, Retired High Court Judge Preethi Inoka Ranasinghe, said that special attention is being given to providing psychological counselling to children affected by disasters.

She also urged the public and media to refrain from sharing information or images of affected children on social media and other media platforms.

She further warned that legal action will be taken against individuals who exploit or traffic children using such information.

Any concerns related to child protection can be reported to the 1929 Child Helpline.
