Korea Provides USD 500K Aid for Sri Lanka’s Cyclone Victims

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government of the Republic of Korea has committed USD 500,000 to support emergency relief efforts for communities devastated by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.

The funds will be channeled through the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide essential supplies to the most affected districts: Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Kurunegala, Kandy, Trincomalee, and Mannar.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, President Lee Jae Myung conveyed his condolences to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, stating that the people of Korea share Sri Lanka’s grief over the loss of lives and livelihoods.

Similarly, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, in a message to Sri Lankan Minister Vijitha Herath, pledged unwavering support and wished for Sri Lanka’s swift recovery with strength and resilience.

Adding to these sentiments, Ambassador Miyon Lee emphasized that Korea’s contribution reflects the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations and aims to assist in rehabilitating affected communities.
