COLOMBO (News 1st); A total of 1,160 small tanks belonging to the Agrarian Development Department have been damaged by the disaster situation.
The Commissioner General of Agrarian Development, Dhammika Ranatunga, stated that 125 of these tanks have sustained severe damage.
747 small tanks have been subjected to partial damage.
The highest number of damaged small tanks is reported in the Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, and Kurunegala districts.
According to Dhammika Ranatunga, an urgent program has been initiated to reconstruct these tanks on a priority basis.
Financial provisions have already been allocated for this purpose.
15,958 tanks are currently being managed under the Department of Agrarian Development.
