Govt. Approves Rs. 25,000 for Flood-Affected Students

COLOMBO (News 1s); The government has decided to provide Rs. 25,000 per child for educational needs to every school-going child affected by recent natural disasters.

According to the Presidential Media Division, this financial assistance will be disbursed through the President’s Fund.

Meanwhile, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that families living in high-risk areas will be allocated alternative land plots.

He further stated that the government will also provide financial assistance for constructing houses on these lands, ensuring the safety and security of affected families.

In addition, the Ministry of Industries has initiated steps to collect data on fully and partially damaged industries due to the disaster.

All District and Divisional Secretariats have been instructed to submit this information before 2:00 PM on December 16, 2025, via the official website: www.industry.gov.lk.
