COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police has established a Special Disaster Operations Room at Police Headquarters to ensure rapid coordination and public safety.
The operations center will work closely with the Disaster Management Centre, armed forces, and other agencies to manage evacuations, rescue missions, and security measures for affected communities.
Police teams across the island have been placed on high alert, equipped with boats, rescue gear, and emergency resources.

Sri Lanka Police said that a special program is in place across all police division to protect the houses and property of those who have been displaced.
Authorities urge the public to avoid unsafe travel, flooded roads, and landslide-prone areas, and to cooperate with evacuation directives.
The Police also warn against visiting disaster zones unnecessarily, stressing that such actions could endanger lives and hinder rescue efforts.
