COLOMBO (News 1st): Three suspects were taken into custody with Kush cannabis valued at over Rs. 40 million, at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The arrest was carried out by the Airport Police Narcotics Division during a routine inspection.
Authorities revealed that the seized narcotics weighed more than 4 kilograms and were concealed inside four parcels hidden in the suspects’ luggage.
The trio had reportedly arrived from Malaysia and were attempting to smuggle the drugs into Sri Lanka.
Investigations indicate that the suspects, aged 34 and 26, are residents of Colombo 12, Colombo 15, and Wellampitiya. All three are said to be employed as drivers.
They are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today.
