COLOMBO (News 1st); The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sukanya arrived at the Port of Colombo on the morning of 18 November for an operational turnaround, marking another chapter in the close maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.
The visiting vessel was accorded a warm welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy, in keeping with naval traditions.
Commanded by Commander Santosh Kumar Verma, INS Sukanya is an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) measuring 101 meters in length, designed for multi-role operations including surveillance and humanitarian assistance.
During its stay, the crew will engage in goodwill activities with the Sri Lanka Navy and explore several tourist attractions across the island, strengthening people-to-people ties alongside defense diplomacy.
The ship is scheduled to depart Colombo on 21 November, concluding its brief but significant visit.
