COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath addressed Parliament, outlining the government’s renewed foreign relations strategy and its achievements over the past year.
Speaking on the floor, Minister Herath revealed that Sri Lanka has signed 70 new agreements across multiple regions in just 12 months, significantly strengthening diplomatic and economic ties worldwide.
Through diplomatic engagements over the past year, Sri Lanka signed 20 agreements with South Asian nations, 19 with East Asian countries, 8 with Central and Far Eastern states, 15 with European and North American nations, 4 with Middle Eastern countries, and 4 with Latin American and Caribbean nations.
He said these agreements have not only enhanced Sri Lanka's diplomatic bonds but also opened doors for economic cooperation.
Herath further noted that Sri Lanka has entered into several B2B agreements, paving the way for new investment opportunities with 150 foreign companies, signaling a strong push toward economic growth and global partnerships.
