Sri Lanka Cricket Team Fractured? Several Players Seek Exit After Islamabad Blast

COLOMBO (News 1st); The ongoing cricket series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has been thrown into uncertainty after several Sri Lankan players expressed serious concerns about their safety following a recent bomb attack in Islamabad.

According to sources within Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), a number of players currently in Pakistan have indicated that they wish to return home immediately. The concerns surfaced after the Islamabad blast, which has heightened security fears during the tour.

Discussions are currently underway between the concerned players, SLC officials stationed in Pakistan, and representatives of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The talks aim to assess the situation and decide whether certain players will withdraw from the series.

If a decision is reached to allow players to return, SLC is exploring options to bring in replacement players to ensure the series continues as scheduled. Officials emphasized that player safety remains the top priority.

An SLC spokesperson told News 1st that an official announcement will be made once a final decision is taken.
