Evening showers and strong winds forecasted

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a marine weather advisory warning of showers or thundershowers in several sea areas around the island, particularly off the coast stretching from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

Other sea areas may also experience isolated showers or thundershowers during the evening or night, prompting caution for fishing and maritime activities.

Winds are expected to be westerly or north-westerly, with speeds ranging from 25–35 kmph, but could intensify up to 55–60 kmph in the sea belt from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.

The state of the sea in these regions will be rough at times, while other surrounding sea areas will remain slight to moderate.
