COLOMBO (News 1st); NVIDIA and Nokia have announced a strategic partnership to integrate NVIDIA-powered AI-RAN (Radio Access Network) products into Nokia’s industry-leading RAN portfolio.
The collaboration aims to usher in the AI-native era of 5G-Advanced and 6G networks, enabling telecom operators to deliver next-gen consumer and enterprise experiences at the edge.
As part of the deal, NVIDIA will invest a staggering $1 billion in Nokia, acquiring shares at $6.01 apiece—pending customary closing conditions. This investment signals NVIDIA’s deep commitment to transforming telecom infrastructure into intelligent, AI-driven systems.
The partnership targets the rapidly expanding AI-RAN market, which analysts at Omdia project will surpass $200 billion in cumulative value by 2030. By embedding NVIDIA’s Aerial RAN Computer Pro (ARC-Pro)—a 6G-ready accelerated computing platform—into Nokia’s RAN architecture, the duo is laying the groundwork for distributed edge AI inferencing at scale.
T-Mobile U.S. will collaborate with Nokia and NVIDIA to test and validate AI-RAN technologies, with trials slated for 2026. These tests will focus on real-world performance and efficiency gains, reinforcing T-Mobile’s leadership in wireless innovation and paving the way for seamless generative and agentic AI experiences.
AI Traffic Is Booming
The timing couldn’t be more urgent. Nearly half of ChatGPT’s 800 million weekly users access the platform via mobile, and its app sees over 40 million downloads monthly. With AI-native devices like drones, autonomous vehicles, and AR/VR glasses on the rise, networks must evolve to meet the demand for edge computing, sensing, and connectivity.
Seamless Transition to 6G
Nokia’s modular AirScale baseband and anyRAN approach simplify the integration of ARC-Pro, allowing operators to upgrade via software rather than hardware overhauls. Dell Technologies is also onboard, powering Nokia’s AI-RAN solution with its high-performance Dell PowerEdge servers—designed for low-touch upgrades and scalable deployments.
This partnership isn’t just about faster networks—it’s about smarter ones. By combining Nokia’s telecom expertise with NVIDIA’s AI muscle, the companies are creating a future where billions of devices—from smart glasses to autonomous robots—can connect, compute, and sense in real time.
The AI-native wireless era has officially begun. And it’s not just evolutionary—it’s revolutionary.
