Met Department Warns Heavy Rainfall Until October 28

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says that the prevailing rainy weather conditions are expected to continue until the 28th of October.

The Department adds that the low-pressure area currently located over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm by the day after tomorrow.

Due to a low-pressure area, the Department of Meteorology forecasts that heavy rainfall of around 100 millimeters may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, Northern, and North-Central Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Trincomalee Districts.


Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology advises fishermen and naval communities to avoid venturing into the Bay of Bengal and eastern sea areas until further notice.
