Municipal Councilor Amal Silva Handed Over to Pinwatte Police

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Walana Anti-Corruption Unit says that member of the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council Amal Silva, who is in custody, has been handed over to the Pinwatte Police for further investigation. 

Police say that the suspect is scheduled to be produced before court.

He was arrested yesterday for possessing three luxury jeeps, valued at over Rs. 60 million, allegedly imported illegally and registered under forged documents.

Amal Silva is also a former member of the Western Provincial Council.
