Expert Committee Releases Initial Report on Nilwala Salinity Barrier Issues

COLOMBO (News 1st); The expert committee appointed to review the prevailing issues surrounding the Nilwala Salinity Barrier has released its first report.

Matara District Member of Parliament Arkam Ilyas stated that, based on the report, further discussions on the matter will be held on the 8th of September at the Presidential Secretariat.

He further noted that steps will be taken to resolve the issues in line with the recommendations presented in the report.

The committee comprises representatives from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, the Department of Irrigation, as well as several external stakeholders.
