Two Arrested For Deer Poaching In Mihintale

COLOMBO (News 1st)Two suspects arrested over the killing of deer in the Mihintale sanctuary were remanded until September 3 by the Thirappane Magistrate's Court.
The arrests followed a tip-off to Thirappane Police that a lorry was being used to transport firearms. Officers seized a firearm and 63 kilos of deer meat from the vehicle.
Police said the suspects had been involved in a network targeting deer in the Mihintale sanctuary and transporting the meat to various parts of the island.
