COLOMBO (News 1st): Military personnel have been deployed to ensure security in the Western and Southern Provinces of Sri Lanka, starting today.
Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala stated that the decision was made due to a noticeable rise in organized criminal activity in these regions.
In addition to the Special Task Force (STF) already engaged in anti-crime and anti-narcotics operations, members of the armed forces have now been assigned to assist the police in these efforts.
