COPF Approves Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The draft bill to establish the Gambling Regulatory Authority has received the approval of the Committee on Public Finance.

The decision was made during a committee meeting held in Parliament, chaired by Rauff Hakeem.

The proposed legislation was reviewed and discussed extensively across multiple sessions of the Committee on Public Finance.

The bill aims to establish the Gambling Regulatory Authority as an independent regulatory body with a wide-ranging mandate. 

It is designed to standardize betting and gambling establishments in Sri Lanka, minimize social harm, and contribute to tourism development and economic growth.
