COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has recorded 1.4 million tourist arrivals so far in 2025, marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
The highest number of visitors came from India (286,085), followed by the United Kingdom (135,722) and Russia (116,257).
In a further boost to the sector, tourism revenue for July 2025 reached USD 318.5 million, a sharp rise from USD 151.1 million recorded in July 2024.
This represents a 7.8% year-on-year increase, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
