COLOMBO (News 1st); A monumental moment for Sri Lankan motorsports has arrived as Yevan David, the "Sri Lankan Lion on the Track," has been officially confirmed to compete in the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season with AIX Racing. This signing marks a historic first, as the 18-year-old becomes the first-ever Sri Lankan driver to secure a spot in the prestigious championship.

David's ascent to F3 comes on the back of a strong season in the Euroformula Open Championship, where he currently sits second in the driver's standings with 213 points. He also showcased his talent on a different stage earlier this month, securing a top-10 finish in the highly competitive GB3 Championship.

His journey to F3 has been a swift and impressive one. After a successful karting career, David made the leap to single-seater racing in 2024, competing in the Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 Championships. His rapid progression and consistent performance in his debut full season have now earned him a seat at one of the highest levels of junior formula racing.

This landmark achievement not only puts the nation on the global motorsports map but also paves the way for future generations of Sri Lankan racing talent. David's journey is a testament to his dedication and a source of inspiration, proving that Sri Lanka has what it takes to compete on the international stage.
