President Dissanayake meets Australian Governor-General

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Governor-General of Australia, Samantha Joy Mostyn, held bilateral talks with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this afternoon.

 

The meeting took place at the Presidential Secretariat.

 

During the meeting, there was an extensive discussion on strengthening the more than 75-year long friendship between Australia and Sri Lanka and on opportunities to expand existing areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

 

Australian Governor-General Samantha Joy Mostyn emphasized that Australia is ready to provide continuous support for a successful journey for Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

 

The Governor-General specifically highlighted Australia's readiness to provide the necessary assistance to strengthen Sri Lanka's economy.

 

The President noted that this visit will further strengthen the friendship between Australia and Sri Lanka. He recalled the direct support provided by the Australian government during the Tsunami disaster and the recent economic crisis, as well as the assistance channeled through international institutions.

 

The President also appreciated Australia's ongoing support in Sri Lanka's economic, educational, defense, tourism, and maritime sectors.

 

The President emphasized that a very favorable environment has been created in Sri Lanka for Australian investors.
