One Critically Injured in Udugama Road Accident

COLOMBO (News 1st); One person has been critically injured in a road accident in Udugama, Galle.

The accident occurred in Kuruduwatta along the Galle–Udugama main road, when a car veered off control and collided with a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.

The accident took place yesterday evening.

According to police statistics, from January 1 to July 28, 2025, a total of 1,446 fatal road accidents have been reported, resulting in 1,532 deaths.

This marks a noticeable increase compared to the same period last year, when 1,290 road accidents were reported between January 1 and July 26, 2024, claiming 1,352 lives.
