Muizzu Hosts Sri Lanka's Dissanayake in Grand State Banquet

COLOMBO (News 1st); President of the Maldives Dr Mohamed Muizzu hosted a state banquet in honour of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, who is currently on a state visit to the Maldives.

Among those in attendance were the Special Envoy of the President, Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan; Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism; Thimuthu Dissanayake, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives; senior officials of the Government of the Maldives; and members of the visiting Sri Lankan delegation.

This is President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024. He arrived in the Maldives at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The Maldives and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations in 1965, and this year commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
