COLOMBO (News 1st); The Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release of former Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake from a case involving the alleged ownership of a gold-colored T56 assault rifle.
Magistrate Chathurika de Silva, citing the absence of direct and circumstantial evidence linking the former MP to the firearm, ordered his release from the case.
The weapon was discovered earlier this year inside a luxury apartment complex in Havelock City, prompting an investigation into its ownership.
Dissanayake was arrested on May 23 and later remanded following his initial court appearance. He was released on bail on June 14, pending further inquiry.
