School Committees Established to Tackle Drug Threat

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Public Security has taken steps to establish school-level committees to combat drug use among students.

This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

Deputy Minister of Public Security, Sunil Watagala, says that such committees have already been formed in 1,080 schools.

Each committee includes parents, students, and a representative from the Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

The aim of this initiative is to prevent the spread of drugs in schools across all 25 districts.
