Father of NPP Politician Injured in Seeduwa Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last night (21) on Rajapaksa Mawatha in Seeduwa, leaving one individual injured.

The shooting took place around 8:30 PM, targeting the father of a local council member affiliated with the National People's Power (NPP). 

The victim, a retired army officer, was reportedly near a shop when two individuals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Police confirmed that the weapon used in the attack was a pistol. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

The suspects were taken into custody late last night and are currently being interrogated. 

The Crimes Investigation Unit of the Negombo Division, along with Seeduwa Police, is conducting further inquiries into the incident.
