COLOMBO (News 1st):UNDP Resident Representative in Sri Lanka, Azusa Kubota says that the UNDP supports the process implemented by the government for an efficient and transparent public service.
She made this statement during a meeting with the Secretary to the President at the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, this morning.
The Presidential Media Division announced that discussions at the meeting focused on the UNDP’s support for the government’s initiative to establish internal affairs units in all government institutions to ensure effective public service and to train staff for this purpose.
The objectives of establishing these units are to prevent corruption in government institutions, ensure transparency and accountability, promote ethical governance, and take steps to implement the law in collaboration with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
