Sri Lanka on African Swine Fever Alert

COLOMBO (News 1st); In a decisive move to curb the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF), the Department of Animal Production and Health has issued a special Gazette notification declaring all Divisional Secretariat divisions in Sri Lanka as either infected or at risk.

The notification, signed by Director General Dr. Hemali Kothalawala, is effective for a period of three months starting from June 13, 2025 1.

The Gazette outlines strict containment measures following the continued spread of ASF across multiple provinces, including the Western, Uva, Northern, and North Western regions.
