New Railway Assistance Program for Disabled Persons

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Railways announced the implementation of a new program to provide special facilities for disabled persons traveling by train.

General Manager of Railways Dhammika Jayasundara says that assistance will be available from staff to help disabled passengers when boarding and alighting from trains.

He added that passengers are required to give prior notice by calling the 1971 hotline number to arrange such assistance.

This system will be launched on the 15th of June 2025.
