COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government has declared the week leading up to June 5 as National Environment Week, with a strong focus on combating plastic pollution.
This year’s global theme,“#BeatPlasticPollution,” will guide a series of awareness campaigns, clean-up drives, and educational programs across the country.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment, with Minister Dr. Dhammika Patabendi announcing that June 5 will also be observed as Plastic Waste Management Day in Sri Lanka.
The national celebration of World Environment Day will be held in Kegalle, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
