COLOMBO (News 1st) - A total of 31,145 mosquito breeding sites have been identified following a week-long mosquito control program implemented by 95 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across 15 districts.

As part of the initiative, 128,824 places were inspected, including homes, schools, educational institutions, government and private offices, construction sites, factories, public spaces, religious venues, and other locations.

During the inspections, 3,916 premises were issued red notices,
6,077 premises were found to contain mosquito larvae, and
legal action is being pursued against 1,470 premises for non-compliance or breeding site violations.

The campaign underscores ongoing efforts to combat mosquito-borne diseases by identifying and eliminating potential breeding grounds across the country.
