COLOMBO (News 1st); The Road Development Authority (RDA) has announced plans to install galvanized safety fences along roadsides in high-risk accident-prone areas of Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands.
According to the RDA, approximately 500 kilometers of such hazardous locations have been identified in the Nuwara Eliya District alone.
So far, safety fences have been successfully constructed along 15 kilometers of these routes.
The initiative is being prioritized in areas where road accidents have frequently occurred in recent times, aiming to enhance road safety and reduce fatalities.
As part of the broader project, similar safety fences are also planned for high-risk locations in the Kandy, Matale, and Badulla districts, reinforcing efforts to make the region’s hilly roads safer for motorists.
