COLOMBO (News 1st); New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters is set to embark on a multi-nation diplomatic tour of South Asia later this week, following his official visit to Australia.
Peters will visit Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India, marking the first visit by a New Zealand Foreign Minister to Sri Lanka in over a decade.
During his time in Colombo, he is scheduled to meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
“New Zealand and Sri Lanka have invested considerably in boosting our bilateral relationship over the past five years, including by opening High Commissions in Colombo and Wellington. This visit will provide political momentum and leadership to that process,” said the New Zealand Foreign Ministry in a statement.
