Navy Divers Break Barriers at 100 Metres

COLOMBO (News 1st); Nine elite divers from the Sri Lanka Navy successfully completed a 100-metre deep-sea dive off the coast of Elephant Island on 18 May 2025.

This historic mission, a first in the Navy’s history, marks a significant leap in the nation’s underwater operational capabilities.

The daring dive, executed with precision and professionalism, was conducted using advanced closed-circuit rebreather systems. 

All aspects of the mission—from gas blending to dive planning—were meticulously managed by the divers themselves, showcasing their exceptional self-reliance and technical expertise in mixed-gas deep diving.
