COLOMBO (News 1st); The Lunuwila Coconut Research Institute has projected a notable increase in coconut harvests for May and June 2025, compared to the same period last year.
According to Professor Ajith Jayewardene, Chairman of the Institute, Sri Lanka recorded a harvest of 477 million coconuts during May and June of 2024.
This year, the expected yield is approximately 555 million coconuts — a significant boost for the country’s coconut industry.
Professor Jayewardene also noted that the price of a coconut in the key coconut-growing regions, often referred to as the “Coconut Triangle,” has stabilized at around Rs. 163 per nut.
