COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President  Anura Kumara Dissanayake, emphasizing the importance of transparency and public accountability in governance, highlighted the success of his movement in the local government elections, noting significant victories across various provinces.

"We are a movement that likes being monitored by the general public, and believe that we should be monitored as well. We need to listen to the people. Where does this movement stand today? It is with the people," Dissanayake stated.

He pointed out that his party had not lost a single local government body in the South of Sri Lanka and had won all Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Western Province except for three in the Kalutara district.

The party also claimed victory in all Sabaragamuwa province Pradeshiya Sabhas and most local government bodies in the North Western province, except for Kalpitiya. In Nuwara Eliya, they won 10 out of 12 local government bodies.

"We are eager to rebuild this country, and we work while listening to our conscience. Some say that they cannot see it much. Do not worry. Fearlessness is not a physical factor. That is executive power. We have that," he assured.

Dissanayake stressed on his commitment to working according to the people's mandate and acting within the constitution, law, and politics.
